Wrongful Death – Construction Accident

In the state of California, a construction accident can lead to a claim of wrongful death. In San Luis Obispo and elsewhere, construction workers account for 20 percent of fatal workplace accidents.

Studies have shown that construction workers between the ages of 25 and 34 years are most at risk of being injured on a construction site. Construction site deaths are on the rise. In 2009, there were 816 deaths reported, and just a year later, there were more than 4,000. OSHA says that 1 in every 10 workers will be injured on a construction job this year.

When it comes to injuries sustained by workers on construction sites, most workers suffer injuries to their backs, necks, and spines. These are incredibly sensitive areas of the body, making it easily understood why so many of these people end up passing away from their injuries. There may be thousands of deaths each year, but there are even more injuries. It is estimated that approximately 40,000 workers are injured every year.

When a construction worker is killed on the job due to someone’s negligence, the victim’s family may have a right to compensation for their loved one’s death. Types of compensation may include lost wages, pain and suffering, end-of-life expenses, and more. When a person is killed in a construction site accident, it is important that they consult an attorney experienced in workplace injury and wrongful death law. Navigating the civil court system should not be done alone.
