Have you been hurt in an accident with a car or truck in Morro Bay? The beautiful coastal city can sometimes be the setting for dangerous — sometimes deadly — car accidents. Accident victims may be left with huge medical bills and other financial losses.

Working with a Morro Bay car accident lawyer can reveal the legal strategies you need to try and recover all these losses. Ernst Law Group can appoint an experienced attorney to represent your case and file a claim with insurance companies that represent all at-fault drivers.

A successful injury settlement gives you money to repay your medical bills, make up for lost wages, repair your vehicle, and put you on the path back to a normal life. Insurance companies often want to play tough, however, which means you may get an unfair settlement offer or have your claim denied.

Hire a car accident lawyer in Morro Bay to give your case the best chance of success. Your attorney will compile all of your medical bills and other accident costs and document these expenses with evidence that they’re all directly related to your accident. If the insurer refuses to make a fair settlement offer, your lawyer can take your case to court and argue it in front of a jury — something most insurers want to avoid, when possible.

History of Morro Bay

Morro Bay is a beautiful seaside city in San Luis Obispo County, home to more than 10,000 people. The area was originally settled by the Chumash Native American people thousands of years ago near Morro Creek. In fact, during the Millingstone Horizon period between 6500 and 1500 B.C.E, there was an extensive settlement along the creek.

The first Europeans to discover the Morro Bay area were members of the Spanish Portola expedition in 1769. Franciscan missionary Juan Crespi noted that they “saw a great rock in the form of a round morro”. In Spanish, “morro” means crown-shaped hill, referring to Morro Rock, the last peak of the Nine Sisters. This peak is often referred to as the “Gibraltar of the Pacific.” However, before the Spanish arrived, Filipinos arrived in the area in 1587 on a Spanish galleon.

While the area was still under Mexican rule, it was divided into cattle and dairy ranches. In 1870, the town of Morro Bay was founded as a port for these ranches. In the mid-1900s, a large abalone fishing industry was established in Morro Bay. Unfortunately, overfishing has caused abalone numbers to dwindle, but other fishing efforts still thrive in the area.

Part of Morro Bay is a designated state and national bird sanctuary, and the area is also a state and national estuary. In 2007, Morro Bay was named a marine protected area. In addition, the Morro Bay Blue subspecies of butterfly was first discovered in the area in 1929.

There are a few notable people from Morro Bay, including motivational speaker Jack LaLanne, MLB player Mel Queen, and children’s author and illustrator James Horvath. In addition, Morro Bay has been featured many times in popular culture, most recently as the setting for Finding Dory.

The attorneys at Ernst Law Group love Morro Bay and being part of the local community. We take part in and sponsor many different events throughout the area, and offer scholarships to local students in need. We also represent members of the community who are injured through no fault of their own.
